I took an Intro to Economics class these last few months and this book was our main textbook. And I did read all of the book, maybe not always on time, but I have read every page. This book was very interesting to me and I feel like I learned a lot. As I got farther along in the book and it got a little more complex I felt a little lost but I still feel like a grew through this class and reading this book. The main thing I got out of it was how smaller government – less government regulations and control – was really good for the economy and people in general. Government involvement tends to help certain people and not others. When you let the economy naturally figure itself out everyone wins. Smaller government was not promoted in the book itself but that is the conclusion you draw when reading how the economy works and what regulations due to the natural flow of the economy. In my opinion everyone should take the time to learn how the economy works for personal knowledge as well as an understanding of politics and what the governments role should be in the economy.
