President’s Day Shopping

February 18th, 2008 | Posted by Nichole | Category: Holidays, ShoppingNo Comments

Happy President’s Day everyone! We of course had to go and do a bit of shopping today. We certainly picked a cold day to go. A high of 5 degrees not counting the wind chill. But we still had fun. I picked up some great fabric at Hobby Lobby and got some good deals at Savers.

My favorite purchase of the day would have to be these shoes which look super cute with a pair of jeans. Only $4! Everything at Savers was half off and I found some cute sweaters and a couple bed sheets for quilting. And it wasn’t even that busy. No waiting in line for the dressing rooms.

Some Fun Shopping

So while we were in Sioux Falls dropping off my brother at the airport this weekend I also got to do a little bit of shopping. Sioux Falls is the nearest “big” town to us so you’ve got to do some shopping while you can. My first buy was at Hobby Lobby where I picked up a nice piece of artwork for when I makeover my room (someday) and some great fabric that I would like to make some purses out of.

The second stop that I bought stuff at was Savers. Don’t ya all love second hand? I do. I didn’t find any clothes this time but a new fitted sheet for my bed - mine literally wore out recently - and an awesome twin bedspread. Now my bed at home is a full so I can’t use it right now, but I can use it the 5 weeks I’m at camp during the summer and I can use it if I head off to school next fall.

My last stop was Barnes & Nobles. Hands down my favorite store. So many books I would just love to read! I picked up three Jane Austen novels in anticipation of the Jane Austen movie special coming up on PBS. I love the movies and I’m sure I will love the books even more.

Fabric Shopping

We had a late night shopping trip to Walmart last night and I got some great fabric. I know, I know, Walmart is not the best place to buy fabric but for our area and for the price its the only place there is. So anyways, I found two great fabrics for the crayon holders I plan to make for the kids in my Sunday school class. I will of course include a few candy canes with each one. These need to be done by Sunday so I had better get a move on.

I also found this fabric for $1 that I thought would make a great top. The green fabric was actually my intention to use with the crayon holders but seeing them together I’m thinking it might be a good color for a layer under this fabric. I may need to go pick up some more or see what else I have in my stash. Now I just need to find a good pattern.
