Quilt Wall

March 11th, 2008 | Posted by Nichole | Category: SewingNo Comments

One of the projects I completed recently was this quilt wall. It is made from white flannel I bought at Walmart and a shower curtain rod. I really like how it turned out. Now I have no more excuses for not working on my Fine Lines quilt. I can lay out the pieces on this wall instead of all over the floor. You know what I will be working on these next few days.

I have a new ironing board! At least a new ironing board cover. That I made myself! Above you see the before and after pics. Isn’t it awesome? Love it!

Hobbit Costume

This afternoon I spent making my sister a hobbit costume for the LOTR marathon/party we will be having at church this Friday night. Now if you know my sister you would know that she is OBSESSED with Lord of the Rings. I do not say that lightly. Before she would even ask you your name she would ask you if you liked Lord of the Rings. So she organized this LOTR party with our Pastor. And of course she needed a costume. I’m pretty proud of how it turned out. The shirt was just a random shirt she had in her closet. The pants were an old pair of sweatpants that I cut shorter and added elastic to. The vest was made by myself out of fabric scraps I had. It is even lined. It all came together well I think.

Christmas Eve

December 24th, 2007 | Posted by Nichole | Category: Sewing1 Comment

Today was going to be a pretty lazy day hanging out with the family. I have gotten in the habit of the last few years busy up until the last minute finishing up handmade gifts for my mom and grandma. This year I decided I wasn’t going to worry about making gifts and just enjoy Christmas. But then today I started thinking, I can’t not make them something. So I dug out my Christmas craft books and December craft magazines an found this great project. These took me all afternoon but I love how they turned out. So don’t think you can skip Christmas like the Kranks or even one holiday tradition like me. It doesn’t work out so well. You just find that you can’t skip those things that have made past Christmases special.

I completed the crayon holders today. Six for the girls and four for the boys in my class. I love how they turned out. I got very good at tying pretty bows too. I teach 4 and 5 year olds in my Sunday School class. They are so much fun but can be quite a handful.
