Welcome to March! One of my favorite feelings is changing the calendar to a new month. A new month seems so fresh and exciting. You can turn a new page on the goals you tried the month before or create some new ones. Mostly I don’t use a purchased calendar; instead I download and print one off to post on my bulletin board. This month I am using the Resolved Calendar from Cottage-Industrialist. I love the fun and brightness of this calendar which I also used last month. Go ahead and download it to use yourself! If this calendar is a bit much for your taste, I also love the calendars M.Writes creates. You can download the March calendar here. Happy March!

Emmaus Bible College

I’m here. Emmaus Bible College. Why didn’t I blog about this five months ago? I was posting for the first few weeks of school. I’m not sure. Do you expect me to understand my own mind? It is a mystery to me. Perhaps it is because I wasn’t posting a lot of informational posts over the summer months. I did a lot of restructuring my blog and updating old posts with updated formats. That project isn’t quite done but I am pretty happy with how my blog posts are organized currently. I’m thinking about redesigning the layout sometime but that is an entirely different project.

Back to school. I can’t believe how blessed I am to be studying here. When I graduated from high school in 2005 I thought I wanted to be a webdesigner which wouldn’t have involved going to school but more self studying. Anyways I have done websites for several people and like doing it as a little side income but I came to the realization that I enjoyed the creative process more for myself than for others. After I came to that realization I worked a couple of different full-time jobs and took a few general online classes. During that time I was doing a lot of praying and asking God for direction in my life. Eventually I came to the realization that I loved working with kids. Someday I want to homeschool my own kids. Those two insights led me to decided to pursue a degree in Elementary Education.

So here I am at Emmaus Bible College getting a double major in Bible and Elementary Education. I’m just starting school while most of my friends have graduated with a four-year degree. I’m okay with that though. I know why I’m here and am dedicated to learning and absorbing as much information as I can. (Dorm room pictures and stories from the first semester will come soon. Check back.)

It is amazing to believe that an entire semester has gone by since I’ve posted. I’m going to have to go back and share some of the highlights of last semester in future posts. Needless to say the combination of lots of homework, a very bad internet at school, and a broken camera made posting almost impossible. I’m back to blogging again; dealing with homework, the internet has been upgraded, and I got a new camera for Christmas so I should be good to go. I’ve missed it.

Resolutions for the new year:
1. Getting back into the habit of having a daily quiet time with God.
2. Some kind of daily exercise habit.
3. Blogging again!
4. Connecting with others more.
5. Responding to correspondence in a timely manner.

I’m keeping my resolutions fairly simple this year. I think it is important to always be looking towards where you want to be and working your way towards that in small daily steps. A review of how last years resolutions went will be coming shortly. The picture above is me dressed up as the Mad Hatter in case you were wondering. Our floor dressed as Alice In Wonderland characters last semester for an all-floor volleyball tournament.

Beetle Bug

beetlebug

I was attacked by a beetle bug,
It was in my hair!
A photo shoot I thought we’d have,
But the beetle bug didn’t care.
Away it flew in my room,
And landed I don’t know where.

Leave a Message

calling_cards
Yes, I printed off calling cards for myself. I can envision so many uses for these. “What is your email address?” You can’t find any paper… but wait you have a calling card! “You have a blog? That’s so cool! What’s your web address?” Can’t find a pen… oh ya, you have calling cards! I also think they will be very useful at college to leave messages on people’s doors. Just write a quick note on the back! I love these and hope I have reasons to use them.

To Many Bookmarks

computer_bookmarks
I’ve got way to many bookmarks. Recently it has seemed like I can never find the bookmarked link I’m looking for. Today I know why. 446 bookmarks!?! How did that happen? I think the reason is spending a lot of time reading blogs and not enough time posting this summer. There is lots of great content for future blog posts hidden in my bookmarks… and in my starred google reader posts… I don’t even want to think about all of those. Having started the daily dose of diy posts I am excited to be going through my bookmarks and sharing some great tutorials with you that way. I am finding projects I had forgotten about and want to make for myself. Hope you enjoy all the upcoming crafty goodness.

I’m back again! It has been a rather long hiatus. The summer has been spent working at Bible Camp and now I am preparing to head to college this fall for the first time. I have a new layout in anticipation of this new era in my life. I’m hoping to begin using this blog to keep family and friends up to date on my life at college. Other ways that I would like to use this blog is as a personal journal, a way to meet new people, an avenue for sharing my faith and beliefs, and as a way to share and organize all the great sites and projects I’ve bookmarked. Now because I am inspired by Summer I’m going to share with you a list of my favorite camp memories from this summer.

1. All the girls at staff week enjoying freezies and being silly in the grass (pictured above).
2. Meeting new campers for the first time.
3. Throwing all of my stuff in a laundry basket and moving into my cabin for the week.
4. Morning staff meetings + sharing how God has worked in our lives this past year.
5. Talking one-on-one about spiritual stuff with my campers.
6. The night before campers arrive staff meeting and the anticipation of the upcoming week (pictured above).
7. Getting a tan while life guarding at the beach.
8. Being Sr. High Staff and getting to know the fellow staff really well + late night staff silliness (pictured above).
9. Setting up and enjoying the black light banquet (pictured above).
10. Grade school games… 3 ball, polish baseball, cricket.
11. Schedules and places to be.
12. Sr. High worship!
13. Chapel and each speaker who brings there own style as they preach the gospel.
14. Watching kids hearts be changed and decisions for Christ made.
15. Directing a grade school camp and being able to bring back some things I remember as camper.
16. Helping your team to win by memorizing verses.
17. Being tired because of the busy day you put in.
18. Missing camp + counting the days until next year the moment everyone goes home.

Its been so long since I last posted! I miss you blog. School, work, life and camp have been just crazy and have not left me time to really blog. School is finishing up this week though so I am super excited to get back to doing things I love. The camp season is coming up fast and we are busy getting ready. Spring is here and summer is fast approaching. I love this time of year! I’m also really excited that I am at the point in my college classes of finishing the final assignments. It is so nice to have things crossed off your list.

This weekends plans:
- Write research paper
- Finish Economics class (check!)
- Take Child Dev. Final Quiz
- Celebrate Mother’s Day
- Enjoy dinner with family friends tonight.
- Work on something for camp

It should be a productive weekend. Hope you enjoy yours as well! BTW… if you are interested, read my review for my Economics book I just finished.
